Pittsburg Police Officer Dies Off Duty While Working Security Job

by ECT

The Pittsburg Police Department announced Tuesday that Donnie Pearman, a 20-year-veteran, passed away suddenly while off-duty.

According to sources, Pearman was working off duty security at the Sun Valley Mall in Concord when he responded to a shoplifter in custody.  He later stepped out for a moment and then was found in a breakroom unresponsive due to a heart-attack. Later in the evening, he passed away.

“Officer Pearman was a 20-year veteran of the department and his presence will be greatly missed by his family, peers and the community,” said Pittsburg Police in a statement.

Just last December, we ran a story about Pearman spreading joy to youth and senior citizens.

Pittsburg Police Officer Pearman spread Christmas joy after surprised a young child with a brand new PlayStation and gifts to several senior citizens.

According to Pittsburg Police, Officer Pearman investigated a burglary in the El Pueblo Housing Development in October, where a child’s PlayStation was stolen. Due to financial constraints, the family was not able to replace the unit.

Pittsburg-Police-Pearman3Officer Pearman assisted the family by purchasing a brand new PlayStation for the young child to make his Christmas more enjoyable.

Police stated that during the month of December, Officer Pearman also purchased gifts for several senior citizens who reside in the El Pueblo Housing Development.

Officer Pearman also became aware of a mother and her young child who became homeless, several days before Christmas. Officer Pearman arranged for this mother and her child to stay at several local hotels within the city.

Officer Pearman assisted all of these families and provided gifts, using his own money.

Rip Donnie, you will be missed!!

Wallaby Feb 16, 2016 - 11:41 am

He did give unnesecary tickets and sure did pick on people who don’t know there rights, like me; whose never been in trouble but he will be missed. It is already a relief to not have to worry about him picking on me just because of the area I’m always in. Everything happens for a reason. RIP.

word Feb 16, 2016 - 12:00 pm

Maybe you shouldn’t be in that area. If you ain’t doing anything you shouldn’t worry. Instead of hanging out in the wrong places maybe you need to hang out in a place that allows you to educate yourself. Instead of posting ignorant stuff like you did just saying. RIP to the officer for an OUTSTANDING job. Wish we had more people like this around.

stellbread Feb 16, 2016 - 5:08 pm

Maybe Wallaby has people in the area where he is lives and is educated enough to know he has the right to travel to wherever he pleases. And yes, whenever an officer stops you for doing nothing, you should worry. He isn’t enforcing any laws, he’s being an asshole.

word Feb 16, 2016 - 10:23 pm

I guess he’s not so educated ever hear of loitering. I guess not. It’s funny how so many people have so many good things to say about him. I bet all those people who had good things to say don’t hang out (loitering). I’m guessing u hang out with wallaboy. Keep it classy and stay off the streets.

When you’re doing the right thing and have all your “ducks” in a row, you don’t have to worry. He was a nice person who Happened to be an officer. We need more like this officer

You’re such an idiot. Do you realize how dumb you just sound? If you place yourself in an area where you’re not suppose to be, how about considering maybe…just maybe he’s picking on you to save your sorry ass life!!

♥RIP Office Donnie and sincere condolences to the family ♥

First of all, who is he to determine where someone SHOULD be? Paternalism is offensive, whether you’re commenting on a website or you wear a badge and throw your weight around. ‘Nuff said.

let that resentment go, a child lost his father. No respect…

Donnie worked for my husband at Macy’s in Sunvalley. I even got to know him over the past year, and when we got the call last night, it was horrible. This has been devistating for my husband, who ran to the store hoping to find a different outcome.
At about 12:30 am, Police Officers from Concord and Pitsburgh were there when they brought Donnie out and saluted him as he passed by them.
He left with honors just as he lived his life…..he was a great person under his badge….he will join other fallen police officers who have gone before him, including my sister Officer Linda Ziegler, SFPD, who will be there to greet him and welcome him home.
I cried for his family last night knowing what they will go through….
Our thoughts and prayers are with Donnies family, friends and the men and women of the Pitsbugh Police Department.
