Just after 1:00 PM today, Pittsburg Police Officers responded to the Chevron Gas Station (1325 California Avenue) for a shooting that had just occurred in the parking lot.

Officers arrived to find a man, tentatively identified as a Bay Point resident in his early 20’s, suffering from a gunshot wound. Medical personnel performed live saving efforts, but the victim died on scene.

Officers have secured the scene and detectives and crime scene investigators are on scene.  The victim was in the parking lot area of the gas station with several acquaintances when the suspect confronted and shot him.

Detectives are currently interviewing witnesses and following up on leads.  Anyone with additional information should contact Detective Erik Severe(925-252-4836).  Information will be released as it becomes available.

Since “Murder” is a legal conclusion, shouldn’t it be a “Homicide” instead? It may very well end up a murder, but without “malice” who knows?
