Update: Pittsburg Police Investigating Fatal Crash

A vehicle crash at 4:50 am Monday has shut down Atlantic Avenue at Railroad Avenue according to the Pittsburg Police Department.

Both Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters and AMR both responded and were on scene for a little over an hour.

The incident is still under investigation and police are encouraging people to use alternative routes.


Update per Pittsburg Police

On Monday morning around 04:50 AM Pittsburg Police Officers were called to an Auto V. Pedestrian traffic collision on Atlantic Avenue just east of Railroad Avenue. When Officers arrived on scene, they located a 35 year-old female, Antioch resident, suffering from head trauma.

Lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful and she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

Officers contacted the driver of the vehicle who is cooperating with the investigation.  Neither impairment nor distracted driving appear to be a contributing factor in the collision.  The cause of the collision is still under investigation and additional information is not available at this time.

Names of the involved parties are being withheld pending notifications.

The Pittsburg Police Department Fatal Accident Response Team is on scene and investigating this incident. A portion of Atlantic Avenue is currently closed from Railroad Avenue eastbound.  The roadway is expected to be closed for several hours and drivers are asked to use alternative routes.
