Pittsburg Police Investigating Death of Man After Fight with Officers

by ECT

The Pittsburg Police Department announced Tuesday night that the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office is investigating the death of a 32-year-old male after he fought with police and was taken into custody.

Just after 2:30 this afternoon, Pittsburg Police Officers attempted to stop the driver of a vehicle on Hillview Drive.  The driver failed to yield and led officers on a short vehicle pursuit.  The driver and sole occupant then fled on foot from the vehicle into a residence in the 4200 block of Hillview Drive, through a partially open garage door.

According to Captain Ron Raman, Officers gave chase and were able to catch up to the suspect inside of the residence.  The suspect actively fought with Officers for several minutes as they attempted to apprehend him.  The suspect also bit one Officer in the hand causing his skin to tear.

Captain Raman stated that officers did deploy a taser at the suspect; however this did not have any effect on him and he continued to actively resist officers. Additional Officers arrived on scene and they were able to handcuff the suspect.

He explained via a press release that moments later, the suspect became unresponsive. Officers began performing CPR and were able to resuscitate the suspect.  He was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.  It is unknown at this point what, if any, medical condition(s) the suspect had.  The suspect has previously lived at the address on Hillview Drive and knew the current residents.

Raman said the suspect is a 32 year old male with an extensive criminal history to include Terrorist Threats, Assault with a firearm, domestic violence, sales and transportation of illegal drugs and has served time in prison. The suspect was on active probation and had an outstanding no bail warrant felony for his arrest for drug related charges.

This incident is jointly being investigated with the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office. This is an active ongoing investigation, more information will be provided as it becomes available via email.  No additional information will be available tonight.

The suspect’s name is not being released at this time.

Good job PD! Another useless roach off the streets making it safer for tax paying citizens!

All he had to do was stop and prob would have had to go back to jail again for another drug offense. He’d still be alive…..but who cares seriously?

We know he had a warrant we know he ran from PD. He ran into his friends home with disregard for the fact there was a child there. We know he resisted arrest and assaulted an officer. We know it did not end well for him. I think it is sad a young man lost his life but all his actions brought about his demise his choices , Really sick of dumb asses who try to blame PD for doing their job.

Joan i hate to be the one to tell you that his mother called his parol officer and he did not have no warrant at all in the untied states or in another country so why did the police lie and we all know that unmarked police cars do not do rotuine traffic stops and especially task force and there couldnt be no traffic stop cause where was coming from he didnt have to yeild to any other street cause all tbe streets that come into the street he was going down have stop signs and if he put them on a police chase PROPER PROCEDURE AND PROTOOL IS FOR THEM TO CALL IT IN AND REQUEST BACK UP. so go figure huh……yeah thought so.

Well, this was bad news esp. those who lived around him should be thankful he was stopped. He must of died from drugs and assertion being chased and his andrenaline raced his heart causing a heart attack? There’s always another side of the story and if the cops did revive him and he still died, fate was at hand. Just because you knew someone doesnt mean you really know them. People will hide who they really are because its a secret what their doing. You think good people would accept him doing crime? Esp. In their neighborhood if they knew? People dont run away if they have nothing to hide. He obviouly had done something bad and like many said why run to your death. Just stop and do whats asked. Most people who run away and obstruct justice had done wrong. They dont want to be caught and go to jail. Its very rare someone would run away cause they’re innocent.

No big loss, the guy sounds like a piece of work. You reap what you sow. The truth hurts.
