Pittsburg Police Arrest Package Theft Suspects During “Operation Grinch”

by ECT

The Pittsburg Police Department announced the arrest of two package theft suspects in what they called “Operation Grinch”.

Police said Thursday they wanted to address package theft, a problem that plague residents this time of year.

Utilizing GPS tracking technology, police said they were able to arrest two suspects after they removed one of the placed GPS packages. While responding to the theft, their partners with the Sheriff’s Office helicopter unit happened to be conducting their routine patrol of the county and assisted them from above, at which point they were able to watch as the suspect vehicle stopped in a second neighborhood in north Concord and removed a non-GPS package from the victims home.

After a short pursuit the suspects were stopped and arrested.

The victims package and the police GPS package were located in the vehicle. The victims package was returned.

This is good work, but package theft is easily avoidable. You have to take preventive measures. They send tracking numbers for a reason.
