The Pittsburg Police Department is currently on scene investigating a crash that left a person dead after being struck by a vehicle.

Police say that at 10:30 am Monday, officers responded to the auto vs. pedestrian collission on Stoneman Ave. near Meadowbrook Ave. The pedestrian did not survive the collision and officers are currently on scene conducting their investigation.

The driver remained on scene and intoxication does not appear to be a factor.

Stoneman Ave. from Harbor St.. to Loveridge Rd. will be closed while officers are investigating the collision. Please use alternate routes and avoid the area.

No further information was provided.

3:10pm Update per Pittsburg Police:

At this point in the investigation we have determined that the victim was walking south across Stoneman Avenue, inside a cross walk, and the driver that struck her was traveling west bound on Stoneman Avenue.  Officers have spoken to several witnesses and the cause is still under investigation at this time.

This victim his been identified as 79 year old Pittsburg resident Valentina Pascua, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The driver, a 60 year old male Pittsburg resident remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.  It does not appear that drugs or alcohol played a role in this collision.

Stoneman Avenue has been re-opened.
