Pittsburg: Mosquito Fogging Set for Wednesday Night

by ECT

The Contra Costa County Mosquito & Vector Control District have announced they will be fogging by truck and all-terrain vehicles to control adult mosquitoes in Pittsburg.

While West Nile virus has not been detected in this area this year so far, high populations of the adult Culex tarsalis mosquito, a known West Nile virus transmitter, have been detected in this area.

Fogging will occur Wednesday, October 7 near the Delta View Golf Club beginning at 7:30 pm and ending by 10:30 pm.

The area to be treated is bordered on the north by West Leland Road; on the east by Orinda Circle; on the south by Delta View Golf Club property; and on the west by John Henry Johnson Parkway.

The insecticide to be used is  Pyrocide 7067 applied at a rate of .75 ounces per acre by truck-mounted and ATV-mounted (all-terrain vehicle) ultra-low volume sprayers.
