Thursday evening at 9:15pm, Pittsburg Police officers responded to the 2900 Block of Stevenson Street for a shooting. A 36 year old male victim (Pittsburg resident) was located by officers suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Lifesaving efforts were provided however he ultimately succumbed to his injuries stated Lt. Ron Raman. The victim was walking near his home when he was confronted and shot by the suspect. The shooting occurred on Stevenson Street between Alvarado and Atherton avenues.
According to Lt. Raman, the victim has prior convictions for weapons and drug related offenses. He has also been the victim of a shooting on a prior occasion and has associations with a known criminal street gang.
Detectives are following up on this incident and anyone with information relative to this shooting should contact the Pittsburg Police Department.
