At 8:56 the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and American Medical Response responded to a report of a motorcycle accident at E. Leland Road and Commerce Place where a motorcyclist died.
According to radio traffic, this was a vehicle vs. motorcycle which occurred across the street from Los Medanos College and has shut down traffic.
According to Pittsburg Police Captain Rathnesh Raman, the motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on scene and he is a 22-year-old Pittsburg resident.
The Pittsburg Police Department is encouraging the community to avoid westbound East Leland Road between Century Blvd and Gladstone Drive until 1:00 pm.
Police suggest motorist use alternate routes such as State Route 4 to Loveridge Road or North Park Blvd from Century Blvd.
The roadway is expected to be closed for several hours while Pittsburg Police officers are investigating the collision
