Driving HWY 4 is dangerous, there is almost zero CHP patrolling. Ghetto cities, ghetto freeways and ghetto drivers = accidents.
My thoughts exactly. From what I have heard through the LEO community, CHP is operating with the same allocations given it at or not long after its inception. The agency is overwhelmed by a lawless state in densely populated areas and the law breakers know this. That is why we see gangs able to shut down our freeways and conduct sideshows while others drive like they are in a post apocalyptic film like Road Warrior. This isn’t the case in other states.
Is not the chp Responsibility is as drivers we drive faster and we don’t look twice before changing lanes
CHP patrolling reduces speed and accidents, its a fact! I dont drive fast and I always look twice, maybe you should learn how to drive then! And thanks for admitting that youre part of the problem.
No CHP + fast and furious drivers, too many trucks going slow, short tempers, = death and destruction. I also stay off of 4. Too many wrong way drivers w/o headlights for me getting on at Willow Pass.
Too bad most folks adjust their mirrors to look straight back (rear view mirror x3) and don’t realize their side mirrors can be aimed into their blind spots. Tilt your head to each shoulder and then adjust your respective mirror to look straight back. When you pick your head up to normal and drive, those mirrors are pointed at your blind spot. Still, no excuse for poor driving. Sorry and best wishes to all the victims.
I was driving on Highway 4 in the opposite direction (east bound) during that time-frame, when I saw what looked like a parking lot on the west bound side. Fire trucks and other emergency vehicles all over the area. Traffic was backed up for at least 6 miles. This is an area where a lot of crashes occur because people simply do not know how to drive! Someone does something to cause a chain reaction and that person should be identified and have their DL revoked from driving ever again. I see people doing stupid things like texting and yakking on the phone which they hold up to their ear. Their attention is elsewhere.
Why isn’t it reported what exactly causes 7 vehicles to crash?
There have been more crashes … some with fatalities …… in that area for quite some time. Most of these have been during the daylight hours! The area from Railroad through the Bailey area and beyond where the freeway curves, have been a disaster. With that many crashes, why isn’t CHP more vigilant of this area?
Tailgating, speeding and unsafe lane changes. 4 is the worst. I avoid it as much as possible.
