Last year, Mayor Kevin Romick  predicted there would be twice as many people in attendance of the Oakley Memorial Day Ceremony and he was right as yesterday nearly two-hundred people attended the event honoring our veterans.

One thing that stood out was a line during a speech by Sgt. First Class Tom Karas who said “Its not happy memorial day. There is nothing happy about it. Please say have a good Memorial Day.”

Meanwhile, Rinco Cinquini was the “surprise speaker” and shared a moving story about his time serving this country followed by the always moving Wreath Presentation and Volley Salute and Taps.

The event included Congressman Jerry McNerney along with representatives from State Senator Mark DeSaulniers and Assemblyman Jim Frazier’s offices.
