Congressman Jerry McNerney hosted his Open House last night of his brand new Antioch office where constituents were able to meet with the congressman one on one and engage him on a variety of topics.  It’s a beautiful space within the Antioch Community Center where McNerney will employ two full-time staffers in Antioch, while his district director will split time between the Antioch and Stockton offices.  Here are a few pictures from last night’s event which featured some tasty cookies and cupcakes for snacking.

Internships Currently Available:

Stockton, Calif. – Congressman Jerry McNerney (D-Stockton) announced today that he has openings in each of his district offices for Congressional Interns.  The interns will be engaged in the civics process and get first-hand experience in the daily operations of a Congressional office.

“I encourage students who have an interest in civics to apply for the positions in both of my offices.  This is a great way to learn more about the government, and to give back to our community,” said Congressman McNerney.

College and post-graduate students are encouraged to apply, and high school seniors will be considered on a case-by-case basis.  All internships are unpaid and are designed to provide the student with educational and professional experience.  The Congressman’s office will partner with institutions that offer academic credit for internships.

To apply for one of the positions, students can mail or fax a cover letter and resume to the office they are interested in working in:

Looked like a packed event, sorry I didn’t make it. It will be interesting to see how much use this office gets considering he will be in Stockton and DC most of the time.

We went and it was a pleasure to meet him. Now we hope we can get him to work on the Section 8 vouchers and get them aligned with Stockton and not Oakland and other higher priced areas. We need his help to get this mess cleaned up.
