At 9:47 pm Monday, firefighters responded to a fully involved two-story home on Furlong Way in Antioch.

The incident threatened a neighbor’s home due to the size of flames and heat from the side of the home, but ultimately it was controlled within 40-minutes while the home was considered a total loss.

The response required six engines with four coming from Contra Costa County Fire Protection District along with two engines from East Contra Costa Fire Protection District (93 from Oakley and 52 from Brentwood).

No one was home at the time and the home appeared to be vacant with the exception of a vehicle that was destroyed in the garage. No injuries were reported.

Crews were on scene for 4-hours 28-minutes.The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Antioch Police Department was on scene to provide crowd control while American Medical Response were also on scene as a precaution.

Here are photographs from last nights fire.

Great job to all the firefighters I was wondering why I heard so many sirens last night. Love the photos.

This was to close to our house. It was amazing job by all emergency response personal. They did a great job and we all worried about our own homes and even the dry grassy hill behind our homes. It could have been much worse, thankfully the rain we just had helped to keep the surrounding area from catching fire as well. Now, we all our wondering what really happened and started the fire. We heard gunshots before the fire and more when we went outside to look at the house fire. Hopefully we will hear an update on here soon about the cause of the fire and hopefully the house will get rebuilt soon and not sit there forever.

I am truly impressed with the firefighters response. We live three homes down from this impressive fire and we certain that the fire was going to start jumping onto other homes next door but luckily the firefighters took complete control of the scene. This was such a scary incident. I am now wondering what caused this fire and if it was deliberate????
