East County Little Leagues Challenger Division was invited to play in an exhibition game on Saturday during the Intermediate World Series in Livermore Saturday where they played a team from Vacaville.  The 1-inning game was a symbolic gesture to the special needs community and show how sports can be for all ages and ability.

Manager Roger Wilson called the day a dream come true after 21 years where disabled baseball players were showcased. He credited East County Little League along with David and Meghan Bell for making this happen.

Players were announced over a loud speaker and took the field where non-stop cheering occurred as every player got to bat and score a run. Upon completion of the game, players were provided with a signed baseball from the Post Oak team out of Texas.

After the game, ECLL players were interviewed by Katie McCall from ABC13 out of Houston TX–see pictures below.

With four Challenger Teams, East County Little League held a drawing for players at Black Bear Diner in early July where 16-players were selected as Mayor Kevin Romick drew the names.
