Photos: AM Accident on Main Street and Live Oak

by ECT

Who needs an alarm clock in Oakley when you have a two-car accident with the sound of a horn echoing through the town until fire crews were able to arrive and shut it off with by smashing it with an axe. While I do not yet have details, it appears that a vehicle ran a red light and the impact with another vehicle  caused it to flip onto its side.

The accident occurred at 6:10 AM which shut down lanes on Main Street and Live Oak this morning causing a slight delay in traffic. Injuries appeared minor if any, but AMR was on scene as a precaution.  The two trucks were able to flip the vehicle back on all four wheels around 7:10 am.

Oakley Police Department did a nice job with traffic control even if certain drivers decided they didn’t like the detours and tried to make their own route through the accident–Oakley PD wasn’t having any of it and  thankfully after a stare down or two the drivers obeyed the rules of the road and followed the detour.

Here are a few shots of the incident:

I’d like to add to your first statement that the horn was super annoying and way to early in the morning. Glad no one was injured though

2 comments: 1) we have a very serious issue with red light runners. and 2) no surprise that certain driver decided that following the law and/or the instructions of the LEOdidn’t applied to them. Can’t tell you the number of times my husband had to leap out of the way of cars-even in broad daylight. There is a DUI driver out there that still has no idea what caused his back window to shatter. LOL LOL LOL

Barbara, I can’t help but laugh at how some of these drivers decide the accident was above them and were going to go through the accident to go straight towards downtown instead of making the “forced” right onto Live Oak towards Orchard Park School. It was amazing and a real eye opener of a lack of respect for the accident around them. Oakley PD gets some serious credit for not issuing tickets.

Sorry Mike but they should have issued tickets. Its an officer safety issue. You don’t need the entire shift to handle this nothing accident. Break a couple officers off and let them start doing some “negative enforcement”. same with the red light runners. Its time for the Oakley Police Dept to do some serious traffic enforcement.

I agree with Barbara, why are they not writing tickets?

Looks like Oakley PD is standing around and fire is doing all the work. Maybe I am wrong.

I know its crazy the fd made the guy in the accident hold the door open to get the flammables out of the truck.

You know, i was wondering about that myself. Why is the person in the accident doing anything and not sitting back and processing what just happened because one minute you are working and the next you are sideways in your vehicle.

I tried not to shoot his face or the other drivers face, but I had to capture that odd moment.
