PG&E 2015 Projects Improve Local Gas System

Concord, Calif.— Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) has worked throughout 2015 to complete natural gas distribution pipeline replacement projects in t the East Bay, improving system safety and reliability. Of the multiple projects, 10 of them consisted of crews replacing plastic distribution gas lines made of Aldyl-A polyethylene with improved plastic pipe.

The 10 Aldyl-A projects were completed in the cities of Concord, Discovery Bay, Lafayette, Martinez, Oakley and Pittsburg.

“As part of our commitment to our customers, PG&E takes steps to proactively maintain and improve its natural gas distribution system. These 10 projects are just a small glimpse into what PG&E does every day throughout Northern and Central California. This work has enhanced the integrity, reliability and safety of PG&E’s natural gas system within Contra Costa County,” said Victor Baker, senior manager of PG&E’s Diablo Division.

Crews installed more than 30,500 feet of new plastic main, benefitting more than 1,200 local customers with a safer and more resilient system.

More work is planned for 2016; 14 additional Aldyl-A improvement projects are expected to be completed in Antioch, Concord, Danville, Discovery Bay, Martinez, Pleasant Hill and Walnut Creek.
