Person Airlifted After Saturday Morning Crash on Byron Highway

At 6:48 am Saturday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a report of a vehicle crash at Byron Highway at Marsh Creek Road in Byron.

It was reported that a two-vehicle crash was blocking the intersection with one person trapped. A medical helicopter was also requested to the scene.

Firefighters extricated the person trapped and required the use of the “jaws of life”. Once free, the patient was transported to the medical helicopter where they were transported to an area hospital.

CHP is investigating the incident. The roadway has since been reopened.
