This is Destiny Green, 7 of Oakley, and she is on a mission to help make her neighborhood a better place.
Saturday morning, she asked her mom if she could do something fun. Her mom asked what she wanted to do. Destiny replied she wanted to pick up trash in her neighborhood.
Destiny picked up a bag of trash in her neighborhood Saturday
Destiny spent about an hour picking up a bag of trash from around her neighborhood trying to get every little bit of garbage she could find.
Her mother, Sylvia Green said she was happy her daughter stated she wanted to pick up trash when she could have gone to the park to play with friends or go watch a movie. She added she was bummed she could only do a section of Oakley, instead of the entire city.
“I told her that even though we are doing a small section it still helps,” Green. “She then told me she wants to make sure we do it again next weekend.”
Green also added that in the past, Destiny has made sandwiches for the homeless and helped hand out water bottles.
She has also been noticed by teachers at school for picking up garbage on her lunch breaks.
