At 5:52 PM Tuesday, Pittsburg Police officers responded to Stone Harbour near Galway for a vehicle that had struck a pedestrian.

Police say the adult female victim was crossing the street when she was stuck by a truck traveling eastbound Stone Harbour.  The victim was transported to the hospital where she was breathing but unconscious.

According to Captain Ron Raman, the female victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital while adding the initial investigation indicates she may have been dragged at least five feet after the collision.

The driver of the truck, female adult, stopped and is cooperating with the investigation.  Alcohol does not appear to be a factor at this time.

The roadway will be closed for several hours.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
