Park District Police Offering $10,000 Reward in Oakland Hills Slaying

The East Bay Regional Park District is offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest in the shooting death of an Oakland Hills man on November 25th.

David RuenzelThe East Bay Regional Park District will pay up to $10,000 for details surrounding the murder of 60-year-old David Ruenzel who was gunned down on a hiking trail at the Huckleberry Regional Preserve, near Skyline Blvd, in the afternoon hours this past Tuesday. David was a longtime talented writer, editor and beloved English teacher.

No suspects have been identified as yet and possible motive for the shooting is being investigated as Robbery.

The subjects described are persons of interest seen in the area just prior to the shooting.

Subject No 1Subject #1: Male black (possibly mixed race), Late 20’s-early 30’s, dreadlocks, medium complexion, with high cheek bones, a narrow face, thin build, wearing dark clothing.

Subject No 2Subject #2:  Male black, 6’0″, 240, clean shaven, short hair, stocky wearing dark clothes, black backpack, and described as out of shape and overly friendly.
