One Dead, Two Wounded in Antioch Skating Rink Shooting

by ECT

At roughly 1:30 am Sunday morning, a 31-year-old female was shot to death in a parking lot and two other male victims were wounded outside Antioch’s Paradise Skate Roller Rink as Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office investigators were still investigating the shooting as of 8:45 am. The suspect is still at large and no description has been released at this time.

The incident appears to have started over an argument inside the roller rink where a man flashed a gun and quickly put it away. The argument then continued into the parking lot where multiple shots were fired.

The identity of the victim who died and two injured has not been released at this time while the sheriff’s office is still holding the cars in the parking lot as they continue to investigate.

If anyone has any information about the incident, please contact the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office.

Note:
Since this incident occurred at the Fairgrounds, which is state property, its the Sheriffs jurisdiction and not Antioch PD.

not everyone on section 8 is unemployed. If I would have gotten accepted through the lottery I would qualify and I work for the state do your homework.

Section 8 is a Federal Program.

Kenji Freitas Sep 9, 2013 - 11:11 am

Did you know you can report section 8 violations online? Sure, it is a federal program, but the people on Section 8 are not supposed to be involved in drug activity, and they are supposed to be keeping their property up to city standards. http://www.hud.gov/complaints/index.cfm

ELN Sep 9, 2013 - 2:26 pm

Thank you. My mom was on sec.8, because she was on ss and her check war $400.00, sec 8 paid PART of her rent, she was disabled and too old to work.

Kenji Freitas Sep 9, 2013 - 7:51 am

The big problem in CA is, you all keep voting for liberal politicians over and over again that are soft on crime. Vote for politicians that are hard on crime and will actually do something about it. I do, it is very easy, at the next election, just move your pen over to the next box. Don’t keep making the same mistake over and over. As to the section 8/welfare problem, if CA required blood draw (not urine, since that can be defeated) drug testing for all applicants, the criminals would be kept out of the system. The liberal politicians protect the criminals and keep them out of jail and on the streets, where they continue to commit more crimes.

Julio-Antioch Sep 9, 2013 - 5:56 pm

Kenji, I don’t think they are allowed to finger print S/8 any more. Antioch worked hard to get finger printing done.

Glover is in a city that has its own housing program and few people are accepted. It was done eons ago.

Kenji Freitas Sep 10, 2013 - 12:08 pm

We need to change our CA laws. Lots of other states are requiring drug testing for welfare benefits, and even more are working to make it a law. At our last election, we had a candidate running for governor that pledged to fight welfare fraud in CA, yet you all voted for a proven loser who does nothing but promote welfare and is soft on crime. Vote smarter at the next election!!

Its not the section 8..its the parents an how u raise ur kids..U cant blame the system. All these young black kids coming frin Oakland,Richmond,Frisco an most of them are drop outs an come to Antioch to make a name for them self. Police need to step it up like back in the eary 90’s.So lets blame the parents that raise them kids. .there the problems.
