One Dead in Antioch Garage Fire

by ECT

At 6:03 am Thursday, Contra Costa County firefighters were dispatched to a report of smoke and flames coming from a garage of a home at W 9th Street and K Street in the City of Antioch.

Firefighters arrived on scene to smoke coming from all sides of the garage and located a victim in the side yard. The victim was not responsive and CPR was started. The victim was later deceased.

Firefighters worked to gain access into the garage and limited the fire to no other structures.

According to the Battalion Chief on scene, the fire was likely caused by a homeless person in the garage who started a warming fire that later expanded into the garage. They said the home and area has been impacted by homeless during the cold nights.

Check back for updates as the fire is still under investigation.

Some straight BS reporting SPECULATIONS about who, what, and how. IDC who gives the facts, even the Battalion Chief should not Speculate as to what happened. He most of all should know better then to say what he said to any reporters or anyone. Investigate first, but not they left it dead in the water with speculations that it was a homeless man. Wrong info!
