Here is a look at this weekend’s events in East Contra Costa County which is filled with Halloween fun.

Dallas-Ranch-HalloweenOctober 30-31: Dallas Ranch Middle School Haunted House

You are invited to join Dallas Ranch Middle School & Rotary Club of the Delta in Antioch as they host a Haunted House between 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

This is a family friendly event for all ages where they will have a haunted house, obstacle course, a big slide, bubble soccer, games, and food. All proceeds go to help support Antioch Libraries.

On Saturday October 31, they will also be hosting the event from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Dallas Ranch Middle School is located at 1401 Mt. Hamilton Dr, Antioch.

 


 

McBethOctober 30-31: Drama Factory Presents MACBETH

You are invited to join the Drama Factory of Antioch for multiple showings of Macbeth beginning on October 30 at 7:30 pm. There will be a total of 7 shows located at the Nick Rodriquez Community Theatre at 213 F Street in Antioch. Box Office opens half-hour before show times.

Haunted-House-OakleyOctober 30: Haunted House
The Furry Friends Food Relief Program will be hosting a haunted house tonight in Oakley between 6:00-9:00 pm at 650 Chandon Ct.

There is a suggested donation of $1 to help raise money for the program that provides food to pets.

October 31: Brentwood Farmers MarketBrentwood-Farmers-Market

The Brentwood Farmers’ Market on is open on Saturday from 8am to 12pm, Oak St. and First St.  New this year – they have expanded around the corner onto Oak St.

The season will run from March 7, 2015 to November 21, 2015.

2:00 – 4:00 pm (contest at 3:30pm)
You’re invited if you dare…to join us for 1st annual Hannah Nicole costume contest. The eternal battle for Good Vs Evil will be waged at the HNV costume contest.

The judging is audience participation. So come with your costume & participate for a few hours of fun.

Enjoy live music and a beautiful sunset over the vineyard and rolling hills. Hannah Nicole Winery & Vineyards award winning wines will be available to purchase by the bottle or glass. Light snacks will be provided. We are pleased to introduce music by Mr. Gage Courtois playing his acoustic guitar and vocals to a wide variety of music.

Antioch-Day-of-the-DeadOctober 31: Antioch’s Day of the Dead Exhibit Set to Open
The Arts & Cultural Foundation of Antioch is proud to collaborate with Give Always to Others & Company (GATO) to present their annual observance of the Day of the Dead, an ancient tradition of indigenous people of  Mexico and other parts of the world of honoring and remembering those who have departed.

The free Day of the Dead exhibit, “Reunited Once Again/ Reunidos de Nuevo”, at the Lynn House Gallery, will open Saturday, October 24th and continues through November 7th on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 1-4 PM.

The Lynn House Gallery is located at 809 West First Street, in downtown Antioch, across from the AMTRAK Station. The exhibit is sponsored by Give Always to Others & Company, Arts & Cultural Foundation of Antioch and a grant from Keller Canyon Grant from CCC District V Supervisor Federal Glover.

BrownstoneOctober 31: Brownstone Gardens Hosts October Open Garden Photo Shoot
Join Brownstone Gardens between 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at 91 Brownstone Road in Oakley where they invite you to bring your own photographer and snap photographs with their facility as a backdrop. This year, they are inviting you to bring a custom, pumpkins.

Each person who delivers a carved pumpkin on Friday, Sept. 30 between 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm will be entered into a drawing for 2-tickets to Disneyland. 1 entry per pumpkin. 1 carved pumpkin per person.

They will also have a best pumpkin contest and a best costume contest.

APD-HalloweenOctober 31: Trick or Treat with Antioch Police

The Antioch Police Department would like to invite you to a free fun, and safe Halloween event from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Antioch Police Department Community Room located at 300 L Street in Antioch.

Antioch Police, K9 officers, Swat Team Members and others will be on site handing out goodies and hosting fun activities.

Recommended for 3-months to 12-years-old.

Please no offensive costumes or replica weapons.

 


Pittsburg 5krunOctober 31: Pittsburg Halloween 5k Fun Run

Join us for our Halloween 5k Fun Run along the Pittsburg Marina!  Adults and children are invited to participate. For extra fun, we will have a costume contest so be sure to run or walk in your costume! Family-friendly costume required. Runners in inappropriate attire will be denied entry.

Youth participating in kids run/walk will receive a participant ribbon. Medallions will be presented to the first three finishers in the 5K.  Post event activities will be held at Buckley Square/Old Town Plaza!

Pitt-Halloween-BashOctober 31: Halloween Bash  at Small World Park
Come to Small World Park for the Halloween Bash and Pumpkin Patch from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday October 31. Kids can trick or treat in a safe environment, and all amusement park rides are free during the event. The entire park will be decorated for a festive and fun event for all. Enjoy live music, magic shows, pony rides and a 2 p.m. costume parade.

The park is located at 2573 Harbor Street in Pittsburg. Admission is $4 for adults, $2 for kids 10 and under. Kids ages 10 & under admitted FREE with a canned good donation to the local food bank. The first 800 kids ages 10 & under take home a free plastic jack o’ lantern pail.

Halloween-CarnivalOctober 31: Halloween Carnival
Hosted by the Spirited Sanctuary, they will be hosting a Halloween Carnival from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at 3460 Orwood Road in Brentwood to help raise funds for animals in the community that are unwanted, neglected, abandoned or abused.

The event will feature a hay maze, cake walk, face painting, petting zoo, games and prizes. There will also be a costume contest.


 

City-of-Hope-CarnivalOctober 31: City of Hope presents Harvest Carnival

This event is being held from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and the community is invited for a free fun for the family which as hot dogs, cotton candy, popcorn, a jumper, games, trunk or treat and lots of candy.

The event will be located at the corner of Grant St. & Brentwood Blvd.

 

 


November 5:  Back to the Moon for Good at Deer Valley High School
Deer Valley High School Ace Academy will sponsor a special planetarium show called “Back to the Moon for Good,” about a contest to send a space probe to the moon. After the show, we will show an actual moon rock on loan from NASA. If you’ve never seen a moon rock in person, now’s your chance. Come to the planetarium in room 511 on Thursday at 7 PM to see.


BUSD-FoundationNov. 13: BUSD Foundation: Downtown Hoedown

You are invited to join Toree McGee & Rodeo House from 6:30-10:30 pm at the Brentwood Community Center at 35 Oak Street in Brentwood.

The cost is $50 per person or $450 for a reserved table of 10 which includes a BBQ dinner by Brentwood Fine Meats and a drink ticket.

The event is being hosted by the Brentwood Union School District Foundation.

The 2015 Official Striper Tournament will continue on November 7. Dan’s Delta Outdoors Striper series is a catch-and-release tournament.

The tournament is designed as catch-and-release to protect and preserve Striped Bass.

Hook-line-2November 15: Hook Line & Sinker Bass Tournament Series

The Hook, Line & Sinker bass tournament circuit is a low cost circuit for the amateur angler. The entry fee of $70 per team includes cash awards for the top 7 teams, plaques for the top 5 teams in each tournament and a hot dog BBQ after each tournament.

At each tournament we also have a young angler raffle for our participants age 16 and under. A portion of the entry fee is also used to host the Tournament of Champions and tri-trip BBQ for the anglers at the end of each year. This is a great place to start if you want to fish professional tournaments or if you just want to have fun!

Holiday-DelightDecember 5: Celebrate Antioch Foundation Hosts Holiday Delites

Join the Celebrate Antioch Foundation as they host their annual Holiday Delites event in downtown Antioch beginning at 3:30 pm.

The event will feature a parade (2nd Street) with a lighted boat show on the river and an appearance by Santa and Mrs. Clause.

Holliday LightsDecember 6: Tree of Lights 2015
Hospice East Bay invites the public to participate in the 29th Annual Tree of Lights ceremonies that are held in Contra Costa County throughout November and December.

The ceremonies provide a way for community members to honor the lives of their friends and loved ones. Everyone is invited to participate in the events which include music, poetry, remembrances by family members and hospice staff, and the special moment when the trees light up.

By dedicating a Memorial Light for a minimum gift of $25, you can honor someone you love while directly supporting end-of-life patient care. Memorial donors of $100 and higher will have the option to have their names listed in the lighting ceremony program of their choice. Event sponsorships start at $250.

Funds raised allow Hospice East Bay to provide essential programs and services such as the Vigil Program which ensures no one has to die alone, the Bridge Program for grieving children and adolescents and Bruns House, our inpatient hospice facility in Alamo.

December 12:  Wreaths Across America 2015
For the first time the Union Cemetery in Brentwood will be participating in Wreaths Across America Wreath Laying Ceremony on Saturday, December 12 at 9AM.

This ceremony is coordinated by Anne Loucks Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution with support of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 10789 and the Union Cemetery.  The event is open to the public.  We hope to be able to place wreaths on all 300 veterans’ graves.  Wreaths are ordered from Wreaths Across America located in Maine and are delivered the day before the ceremony.  We are reaching out to the community to purchase a wreath(s) to donate.

Anne Loucks Chapter, NSDAR and VFW Post 10789 are participating as fundraising groups (all funds will be used for purchasing wreaths).  Wreaths can be purchased directly through wreathsacrossamerica.org and VFW Post 10789 (www.vfw10789.org), Commander Steve Todd (415) 722-0923.  You can also contact location coordinator Diane McLean at (925) 858-9075 for more information.
