Oakley Union Elementary School District Issues Warning After Man Approaches Student

by ECT

The Oakley Union Elementary School District issued a warning Wednesday after a suspicious circumstance took place at Delta Vista Middle School.

According to Superintendent Greg Hetrick, a male student was walking to school today and later reported to the office that a man (described to be in his 50’s with a white beard driving in a white GMC 2-door) rolled down his window and said, “Hey kid, do you want some candy?”  The student said no and the GMC drove off.

The police have been notified and after speaking with the student have deemed the incident a Suspicious Circumstance.

Hetrick reminds staff and parents this serves as a reminder that we can never tell our youths  too often about stranger danger.  He encouraged parents and staff to share information about Stranger Danger and of what they need to do if approached.

A similar incident may have occurred Tuesday at Byron Elementary School, but has not yet been confirmed.
