Oakley: Student Arrested for Bringing Weapon to School

by ECT

A student at O’Hara Park Middle School in Oakley was arrested Friday after he brought a small pocketknife to school.

The incident was brought to light via the Oakley Police Department Incident Summary Report released Monday evening.  Per the incident, a subject was arrested at 10:56 am. Police say someone spotted the knife and responded to the school where they took a 13-year-old into custody.

O’Hara Park School Principal Colleen Creswell declined to discuss the issue stating the education code prevented her from speaking about the incident because the student was a minor.

When asked if a weapon was brought onto campus, she referred to the educational code stating she could not speak on the issue and directed questions to the Oakley Police Department.

Creswell was then asked if parents at the school were notified of the incident, she stated the staff and students were safe and safety is the number one priority.

“We dealt with it the way we dealt with it,” said Creswell. “We contacted the people we needed to contact.”

Well I guess the schools in Oakley do not appreciate transparency with parents. If I had a student at that school and someone brought a weapon, I’d want to know about it.

Where did Antioch go wrong??????? Nov 18, 2015 - 2:02 pm

Kids with knives are arrested all the time at Antioch schools. There is never notification made to other students parents.

Lol. Why do parents want to be notified about every little thing that happens at a school? Freakin’ busy bodies. Best part about Oakley is we don’t have real probems so folks invent them.
