Oakley: Seven Injured in Vehicle Crash in Front of Freedom High School

At 3:26 pm Tuesday, East Contra Costa Fire and Oakley Police responded to a vehicle crash in front of Freedom High School in Oakley that injured seven people.

Battalion Chief 5, Brian Helmick, was in the parking lot of Freedom High School going into a meeting on campus when he heard the crash and immediately requested additional units and confirmed a medical helicopter was ordered after arriving on scene.

In total, 5 AMR units were utilized along with 3 fire units (including E88 from Antioch) and a Tier 1 status was issued for the incident   The crash blocked both lanes in the westbound direction of Neroly Road and 1 lane in the eastbound direction of Neroly.

By 4:17 pm, Tier 1 status was terminated and all fire resources became available while the scene was turned over to Oakley Police.

In total, all 7 patients were transported by ground ambulance between local hospitals. Six of the seven patients were students.

Although a medical helicopter was ordered, it was not utilized.
