The City of Oakley kicked off its 12th Annual Science Week on Saturday at Creekside Park where a little over 100 kids participated with some hands on activities relating to the Delta and natural habitat including a mini stream simulator which highlights how streams can move sand. The Delta Science Center was also on hand with fish tanks of Delta fish. On Sunday, the Delta Science Center did some water testing that the kids got to record in their book while Mike Moran of East Bay Regional Parks did some bird watching.
Below, I’ve included Science Weeks schedule, but I want to point out that this coming Saturday, if you have kids, you are not going to want to miss the Extreme Delta Predators event. This by far is so neat! Attendees will get hands-on with the San Francisco Bay and Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Marine Life and Ecosystem with live animals–in the past, there have been birds, owls, and snakes. The event will occur on April 27 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Ironhouse Sanitary District.

One would think oakley would be promoting their events each day, not just one time
They did promote it- I saw it in the paper, they emailed it in their weekly reminders, it is up on the electronic sign and they promoted it through the schools. I saw the turn out yesterday- it looked like over 100 people. I think they did a good job promoting it and it is a great program for Oakley.
