Oakley: Power Knocked Out to 78 Customers After Vehicle Crashed into Pole

At roughly 3:50 pm Thursday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a vehicle accident with rescue in the 700 block of Brownstone Road in Oakley.

During the response, Engine 93 reported seeing smoke in the area of the incident which was later determined to be a 1/2 acre vegetation fire. Crews arrived on scene to see a vehicle into a pole with a power line down and wires in the roadway–the road was blocked.

Crews reported that the driver of the vehicle was had minor injuries and no rescue was needed. Crews immediately moved to structure defense to put out a grass fire that was spreading to a fence line. The fire was later reported as out.

As of 5:08 pm, crews were still on scene.  According to PG&E, power will be restored by 6:00 pm.
