Oakley Police Warn of Rise in Auto Burglaries at Diamond Hills Athletic Club

by ECT

On Tuesday, the Oakley Police Department issued a warning to patrons of the Diamond Hills Athletic Club that there has been a rise in auto burglaries.

According to recent police logs, since November 27 there have been a total of at least 6 auto burglaries.

Located at the corner of Empire and O’Hara, most burglaries have occurred at night and have targeted vehicles with purses or items of value left in plain view.

Vehicles were accessed by breaking windows near the items seen inside of the vehicle. Oakley Police would like to urge all patrons to do the following:

  • Roll up your windows and lock your vehicle doors
  • If equipped, activate vehicle alarm system
  • Remove all items of value from the vehicle
  • Take purses/laptops/wallets/cell phones and secure them in a locker if available
  • Report any suspicious vehicles or persons to Oakley PD (925-625-8060)
  • Be aware and report parked occupied vehicle or suspicious subjects in the area
  • At night, park in well-lit areas

Oakley Police is diligently working to combat this problem and increase presence in the area. Oakley Police would like anyone with any information regarding these cases to call 925-625-8060.

Come on people, don’t place purses, laptops, and other valuable items in plain sight. You might as well leave your doors unlocked.

Don’t leave ANYTHING in your vehicle, valuable or not. Thieves will steal anything.
