by ECT

The City of Oakley reported Wednesday that they received over 100 fireworks calls on the 4th of July.

Anticipating a high call volume, police ensured they had additional staff on duty to deal with the fireworks complaints with a goal to address the largest violators in areas–targeting previous years “hot spots”.

In total, Oakley Police officers issued 9 illegal fireworks citations, made 111 fireworks related contacts and confiscated fireworks in over 80 instances of those contacts.

Pictured are some of the seized items from our activity.

Police reported there were no injuries or fires were reported in Oakley on the 4th of July as a result of illegal fireworks activity; however, a number of the complaints received referred to frightened children and pets, affected Veterans, and fear of fire danger due to the fireworks.

The City of Oakley has asked resident to help in identifying specific addresses where fireworks were set off. They will follow up with these individuals and remind them that fireworks are illegal and those caught with them are subject to citations and fines.

How many people did the ANTIOCH PD arrest for setting off illegal fireworks? Did any police even show up to break up this party? I doubt it because this was continuous. This place was like a WAR ZONE! Some SOBs were setting them off from 7 pm to midnight! A CONSTANT volley of noise to the point that our windows rattled. The concussion was unbearable. The vet with PTSD and a number of people with high blood pressure were driven to the local ER!

We were going to leave town and head for some quieter area but changed our minds because it looked like our trees could be set on fire as well as our roof. We stood around holding our water hoses.

My neighbor called the police numerous times and was told that this is happening all over the city and there is nothing the police can do given their relatively small numbers. I suppose calls continued because a few times when i attempted to reach dispatch, the number was busy!

The dude…..look how many fireworks related contacts were made. It helps if you read the article before making your self look dumb. Plus you were not the one making contacts with people and enforcing the laws related to fireworks.

lol math isnt your strong suit eh?

9 citations divided by 111 contacts gives you what percentage? Its ok try real hard and you can figure it out.

What good does a contact make? That means 31 contacts they didnt even confiscate anything.

Those are failure-type numbers everywhere in the world except your pea brain. Those are good numbers if you’re retarded.

No injuries or damage. Sounds like all good fun to me!!!! Watched my neighbors light some off and we were all cool with it on the block.

Nock…… So, having people wind up with severe ringing in their ears for days and days is not “damage” to you? How about people with high blood pressure having their diastolic level climb up to over 200? What about vets with PTSD almost going beserk? Now, what about top of trees catching fire? Not a problem? By the way, your neighbors broke the law. No fireworks on private venues are permitted anywhere in Contra Costa County, which includes the cities within the county. I called the cops on mine and they cited them and took away their ‘toys.”

Lola, a diastolic reading would incur a stroke or some kind of hemorrhage, I think you mean systolic reading of over 200 mmHg which would be a hypertensive crisis. I’m guessing you mean fat people. And ones with PTSD, wow. Civilians overseas have to deal with real missiles and artillery everyday because of those gung-ho war mongerers. I’m glad the fireworks set them off. Maybe with their GI bill they can get ear plugs.
