Oakley PD: Sunday Incidents Included Stabbing

I will say this about our wonderful Oakley Police Department, when they are doing their job, they are in stealth mode and  you will never hear about it which is a great thing. Take Super Bowl Sunday for example, we had three incidents where none of them made the news which included a stabbing at Mikes Beef N Brew.

In speaking with Chief Bani Kollo through email, he provided me with generalizations on the three incidents.

  • Sunday Morning at 0145 hours we had a short car chase, low speeds, and the guy stopped. It resulted in a single individual arrested for DUI, Evading and resisting arrest. During this incident, the subject was resisting officers attempts to place him in handcuffs and the Electronic Weapon  (Taser) was deployed in an attempt to gain compliance/control of the subject which eventually happened.
  • Then at almost 0500 hours we had a longer chase from Oakley onto HWY 4, where the subject lost a tire thanks to the assistance of Pittsburg PD, and he was taken into custody for DUI and Evading. While the Chief would not confirm how the tire blew, I would assume it was the usage of a spike strip or something similar.
  • On Sunday at about 1145 pm, we got a call of multiple subjects fighting and one subject stabbed at Mike’s Beef ‘N’ Brew. We landed to find a subject with multiple stab wounds and the suspect (s) had fled. The victim was transported to the hospital, went into surgery and is stable now, the investigation is on going, no one is in custody at this point. Unknown if gang related or just too much alcohol.

A job well done to our Oakley Police Department and those involved in keeping our city safe so we can all enjoy things like the Super Bowl in peace.

Can’t say I didn’t expect the stabbing considering the crowd Mikes Beef N Brew typically brings in. I won’t go there. Nice work Oakley PD.
