Oakley: Man Suffers Head Injury After ATV Crash

On Sunday at 5:57 pm, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District firefighters responded to the 600 block of Poplar Ct in Oakley for an ATV accident.

According to Jake Gonzalez, Battalion Chief, firefighters arrived on scene to locate a male believed to be in his 30’s who was suffering from a head injury as a result of an ATV accident. He said that it appears the patient was not wearing a helmet at the time.

A medical helicopter was requested and Engines 93 (Oakley) and 59 (Discovery Bay) along with AMR, prepared the patient for air ambulance transport to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.

Gonzalez stated that the initial cause of the accident was the patient was driving an ATV in a residential street without wearing a helmet when he potentially collided with a parked vehicle.

The incident is under investigation with the Oakley Police Department.
