Oakley: Man Shot Twice Monday Morning, Police Search for Suspect

by ECT

On Monday at 8:16 a.m., OPD Officers were dispatched to a report of gunfire in the area of Main Street and West Cypress Road.

According to Oakley Police, as officers responded to the area, a neighbor called to report having seen a subject firing a handgun at a vehicle.   The vehicle had fled the neighborhood as had the subject who had fired into the vehicle.  This caller identified the shooting as having occurred on Quail Valley Run – with the suspect walking toward the nearby park.  The caller provided a basic description of the vehicle, which had its license plates removed.  Upon the arrival of officers to the area, they were not able to locate either the vehicle or the suspect who had fired at the vehicle.

Officers canvassed the area and located a series of shell casings near the intersection of Quail Valley Run and Meadowlark Lane.   It was later confirmed that this is where the shooting occurred.

A witness identified that a lone male had been standing outside the vehicle and had drawn a firearm.  This suspect then fired a series of shots into the interior of the vehicle.

Police said a short time later they learned that an individual had arrived at the hospital emergency room in Antioch.   The individual had been dropped off at the hospital emergency room by a pair of individuals.  They had been driving a vehicle matching the description of the one that had fled the shooting in our community.  After dropping off the injured individual, the vehicle had immediately fled the hospital.

OPD Investigators responded to the hospital and met with the victim who provided a statement about what had led to the shooting, which had occurred in the Quail Valley Neighborhood.  The victim had suffered two gunshot wounds, neither of which were believed to be life threatening.  OPD Investigators reviewed several of the City’s cameras and were able to obtain images of the victim vehicle as it left the scene.  Investigators have not been able to locate the vehicle.

Investigators have been able to locate several images of the vehicle that was used to transport the victim to the hospital.  Investigators are looking to talk to the driver of the vehicle to determine their involvement in this crime.  Investigators believe the vehicle to a Mitsubishi Brand vehicle, but have been unable to determine the year or the model of the vehicle.  Residents are also asked if they recognize the vehicle from other neighborhoods in the community.

Investigators are also looking for individuals from the neighborhood who may have seen the vehicle in the neighborhood prior to the shooting or who may have witnessed the shooting occur.  Finally, investigators are asking neighbors in the area to review their camera systems to see if they captured an image of the vehicle or the suspect that fired into the vehicle.  Anyone with information is asked to contact OPD at [email protected]

OPD Investigators do not believe this was a random event.

I guess they heard dealer plates are no longer acceptable. That means no plates are ok, right? Also, that spoiler is definitely after market. Very distinguishable.
