Oakley: Man Airlifted to Local Hospital After Suspected DUI Crash

At 2:24 pm Saturday, a solo vehicle crash on Vintage Parkway shut down the northbound lanes after a vehicle struck a tree in the City of Oakley.

Oakley Police arrived on scene to local a male still inside the vehicle blocking the roadway just north of Main Street. Contra Costa County Fire and AMR arrived on scene to provide medical attention while East Contra Costa Fire established a medical helicopter landing zone.

According to witnesses, the male was driving fast through a neighboring parking lot before making a right hand turn onto Vintage Parkway and lost control when his truck hopped a curb, took out a sign and struck a tree.

The male sustained a major head injury and possible other injuries related to the crash and its believed alcohol may have played a role in the incident, however, Oakley Police would not confirm as it was early in the investigation.

The man was airlifted to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. No further details were released.

I’m so sick of drunk drivers, my empathy is towards innocent victims. The hell with the drunk driver. Let him think about what’s he’s done in a hospital bed.
