The Oakley Police Department is currently investigating a two-vehicle crash after a vehicle was driving down Main Street in Oakley and hit another vehicle before striking a tree.

The accident occurred at 8:16 pm on Wednesday at Main Street at Rose Avenue where East Contra Costa Fire protection District located a vehicle partially off the roadway and into a tree.

A medical helicopter was requested as the patient was unconscious. Firefighters had to use extrication tools to free the driver from the vehicle. It was indicated on scene that the person was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Although police have not yet released any update on the incident, speed appears to be a factor. The patients condition is unknown and its unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role.

We will update once the Oakley Police Department provides additional details.
