Oakley: Downed Power Lines Knock Out Power to 4900 PG&E Customers, Shuts Down E Cypress Road

At 6:40 am Wednesday, nearly 4,900 Oakley residents were without power after a downed power line near Main Street and E Cypress Road was reported in the City of Oakley.

Upon arrival, Engine 53 located a downed wire sitting across the railroad tracks and requested that the railroad line be shut down along with eastbound E Cypress Road. Oakley Police were dispatched to the scene for traffic control.

In total, 4,878 PG&E customers were without power. By 7:15 am, just 1,507 were without power. PG&E was requested to the scene with power estimated to be restored by 8:30 am.

Update: By 7:30 am – E53 reporting PG&E giving all clear and the roadway was re-opened. The incident was caused when a bird made contact with the wires.
