Oakley Fishing Derby

The Annual Oakley Kids Fishing Derby last weekend had over 150 kids participating catching a total of 252 fish. The event was aimed at giving kids a chance an opportunity to fish for the day.

Volunteers from the Delta Teen Fishing Club, as well as members of the California Striped Bass Association were on hand to lend their expertise and teach the children the proper way to handle and release the fish. Bridgehead Bait and Tackle generously donated the bait for this yearʹs event.

The Derby was followed by a presentation by Barry Starud, Adult Advisor of the Liberty H.S. Fishing Club, followed by a free lunch and an awards ceremony. Roger Mammon and Barry Starud awarded the prizes for the largest, smallest and most fish caught in each category.
