Oakley: Alcohol Suspected in Sunday Night Crash on Empire Ave

For the second night in a row, the Oakley Police Department and East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a report of a vehilce accident where alcohol is suspected to be the cause.

The accident occurred just before 9:30 pm Sunday, at Empire and Oakley Road where a vehicle smashed into a pole and the driver was not conscious. Firefighters arrived on scene and worked to remove the man from the vehicle.

As crews worked, it shut down Empire Road in the southbound direction for nearly 45-minutes. A medical helicopter was requested, but later cancelled as AMR transported the patient Code 3 to a local hospital.

Although alcohol is suspected to have played a role in the crash, Oakley Police are currently investigating the crash.
