On Saturday April 27, the Oakley Police Department responded to calls of multiple shots fired in the area of Rhine Court, Oakley, around 6:30 pm. Upon arrival, police located a male subject in  a driveway with multiple gunshot wounds.

East Contra Costa Fire Protection District and American Medical Response worked quickly to transport the victim to John Muir Medical Center, the victim was in his early thirties.

According to Oakley Police Chief Bani Kollo, the victim is expected to live.

The shooter, early thirties, was arrested a short time later and booked in County Jail for Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The shooting is still under investigation and little details are being released at this time.

According to a witness, the shooting occurred over a verbal argument where the shooter went into the home and grabbed his gun and proceeded to fire shots at the victim in the driveway.

Update: 4:50 pm: According to a witness late Monday afternoon via email, they state the person who was shot was trespassing and tried to attack the person in his backyard after scaling a fence to get to him. They also claim the person who was shot was previously arrested for criminal threats against the person a few weeks back. This witness states the  shooting was in self-defense and nobody was shot in the driveway which contradicts the prior account.

Both subjects are Oakley residents.

Why does everyone have to have instant gratification? Blow them away. He should have just walked in his house and shut the door. Better yet, not owned possibly an illegal fire arm. Wouldn’t life be grand if this stuff didn’t happen.

Actually the person shot was trespassing in the other persons property and was shot is self defense of him and his family..also the gun was legal and registered..this news story is incorrect there were no shots fired at anybody in the driveway..whoever wrote this story shouldn’t just make things up..
