Oakley: 1 Apartment Sustains Fire Damage, 6 Suffer Water Damage After Fire

At 4:16 pm Monday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a reported fire a the apartment complex at Carol Lane in Oakley.

Engine 93 (Oakley) arrived on scene to residents evacuating the building and the sounding of an alarm. They also observed smoke coming from the hallway. Engine 93 quickly requested the second due engine (81, Antioch) to bring a line inside upon arrival.

Engine 93 quickly located the origin of the fire which was room 149 which was full of smoke. By 4:38, the fire was knocked down.

According to the Fire District, sprinkler activation limited the spread of the fire. They stated one apartment suffered smoke and fire damage. Six apartments suffered water damage. An electrical room, computer room, two bathrooms and a community room all sustained water damage.

The District also stated two civilians complained of smoke inhalation and were treated by AMR, however, they did refuse medical treatment and were not transported to a hospital.

The incident required 24 firefighters which included all ECCFPD resources, as well as two units from Antioch (Contra Costa County Fire Protection District).

The cause of the fire is unknown and Contra Costa County Fire Protection District is investigating the fire.
