November 12-18: Antioch Police Briefs

According to City Manager Steve Duran, the Antioch Police Department had 1,604 calls for service netting 80 arrests between November 12-18.

Of those arrests, 35 were felony and 45 were misdemeanor. They also had 2 DUI arrest.

Briefs

  • On 11/18/2015 at 11:10 pm, 32 year old Ahmadi Allochuku of Pittsburg entered Denny’s at 2006 Somersville Rd. He seated himself and then began accusing staff of helping other patrons out of order. Allochuku then used his cell phone to record several staff members while accusing them of being racist and refusing to serve him. One of the waitresses held a menu up in front of Allochuku’s cell phone to stop him from recording her. This made Allochuku upset and he punched the waitress several times in the face with a closed fist, causing her to lose consciousness and sustain a possible broken nose. Police arrived and placed Allochuku without incident for felony assault. He was booked at the county jail. The victim was transported via ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
  • On 11/18/2015 at 4:28 am, officers contacted 46 year old Jason Simmons of San Jose at the Shell Gas Station at 2701 Hillcrest Avenue. A records check revealed he had an outstanding arrest warrant for being a parolee at large. He also had an additional outstanding arrest warrant issued by Santa Clara County Superior Court for transportation/sales of a controlled substance, being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • On 11/17/2015 at 11:16 pm, officers responded to an alarm at the Ace Hardware Store at 501 Sunset Lane. When they arrived a police canine was used to conduct a security check of the fenced and secured yard. After an announcement was given that a police canine was going to be used to do so, the dog was deployed into the yard. Jesse Brant, 25 years old, was located concealed behind stacked merchandise. Brant refused to come out of his hiding place and began punching the canine. Brant fought with officers and was eventually taken into custody for burglary. Brant received treatment at SDMH for dog bites and was later booked at the county jail.
  • On 11/17/15 at 3:09 pm, officers conducted a traffic stop at W.19th and “C” streets on a Lincoln Navigator. The driver, 42 year old Samuel Cox had a suspended drivers’ license. A search of the vehicle yielded a loaded .40 caliber Desert Eagle pistol. Cox has a felony conviction for voluntary manslaughter. He was arrested without incident and later booked at the county jail.
  • On 11/17/2015 at 11:36 am, officers responded to the report of loiterers at J&S Auto Glass at 1530 W 10th St. Officers contacted several subjects, including 49 year old Pamela Washington. A records check revealed she had an outstanding arrest warrant charging forgery, possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance. She was taken into custody and booked at the county jail.
  • On 11/17 2015 at 1:08 am, officers responded to the Goodwill Store at 2701 W.10th St. regarding an alarm. When officers arrived, they detained 29 year old Blain Oksanen, who was leaving the location. After an announcement it was going to occur, a police canine was deployed in order to accomplish a security check of the locked and secured yard. Officers and the canine located 32 year old Miranda Mirati and 31 year old Melissa Leyendecker, within the yard. A stolen vehicle was parked nearby. The car contained items tying those arrested to the vehicle. Mirati was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment regarding a dog bite. Oksanen, Leyendecker, and Mirati were booked at the county jail.
  • On 11/162015 at 11:00 pm, an officer located a vehicle at “C” and W.19th streets with a stolen license plate affixed to it. The officer detained, 26 year old Jacob Flynn, who was seated in the in the drivers’ seat of the Honda Civic. A records check of the vehicle identification number revealed it was too was reported stolen. Flynn was taken into custody without incident for auto theft and an outstanding felony arrest warrant charging auto theft. He was booked at the county jail.
  • On 11/16/2016 at 12:06 pm, officers responded to 201 W.6th St. regarding a realtor discovering a trespasser in a vacant home. When officers arrived, they detained 34 year old Michael Kyle as he exited the house. Kyle was arrested without incident and later released on a signed promise to appear.
  • On 11/16/2015 at 0956 am, officers contacted 29 year old Ryan Freedle who was with a group of loiterers behind the Target store at 5769 Lonetree Way. A records check indicated he had an outstanding arrest warrant for vandalism and failing to appear in court. Freedle was arrested and later booked at the county jail.
  • On 11/15/2015 at 11:44 pm, an officer was patrolling the Cavallo Rd. area and saw 33 year Thomas Salazar walking in the parking lot of the Executive Inn. The officer was aware Salazar had an outstanding no bail arrest warrant charging burglary. Salazar fled on foot when he saw the officer. The officer gave chase on foot and Salazar eventually gave up at Joseph Avenue and Dennis Drive. Salazar was arrested without further incident and later booked at the county jail.
  • On 11/15/2015 at 9:00 am, officers responded to an alarm at Clear Comm at 2520 Sycamore Dr. When officers arrived, 24 year old James Yingling was detained in front of the business. A records check revealed Yingling had two outstanding arrest warrants charging failure to appear, resisting arrest and possession of burglary tools. Officers determined the business was broken into via the back door. Officers reviewed surveillance video and determined Yingling was not one of the burglars. Yingling was booked at the county jail. Officers continue to investigate the burglary.
  • On 11/15/2015 at 1:39 am, officers responded to the 1600 block of Poppy way regarding a suspicious vehicle. They made contact with the occupant of the vehicle, 41 year old Richard Willis of Pittsburg. A records check determined Willis was a sex registrant who was out of compliance. Willis was arrested without incident and booked at the county jail.
  • On 11/14/2015 at 5:00 pm, officers were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle call at Skipolini’s Pizza at 901 Fitzuren Road. The vehicle was reportedly running and had a window broken out. Officers made contact with occupant of the vehicle, 30 year old Kyle Chilcote. He was exhibiting symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance. He was arrested for DUI and later booked at the county jail.
  • On 11/14/2015 at 6:59 am, officers responded to the report of a stolen vehicle parked at the Double Dragon restaurant at 2621 Somersville Rd. When officers arrived, they met with the vehicle’s owner who reported her vehicle was missing from in front of her home when she awoke that morning. She drove around the area searching for her car and found it parked at the restaurant. The vehicle was running and occupied by two sleeping subjects. Officers arrested 29 year old Felipe Gonzalez and detained the other subject. After conducting a further investigation, Gonzalez was booked for auto theft at the county jail and the second subject was released.
  • On 11/14/2015 at 12:46 pm, officers contacted 18 year old Jalil Johnson at the Sycamore Square shopping center located at 1092 Sycamore Dr. He was found to be in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia used in the sale of marijuana. Johnson was arrested for possession for sale of marijuana and later booked at the county jail.
  • On 11/14/2015 at 1:03 am, an officer was patrolling the area of Verne Roberts Cir. The officer observed a Chrysler 300 pull into the Goodwill store lot with no lights on. The Chrysler parked next to the business, which was closed. Shortly thereafter, the car drove out of the parking lot. The officer was able to see the car had no license plates and conducted a traffic stop. A records check revealed the driver, 29 year old Justin Cozakas, had a suspended license. The vehicle was towed and an inventory search was conducted. The officer located a 40 ca. Glock pistol, a holster and 36 rounds of ammunition. Additionally, a small amount of methamphetamine and a scale was located in the car. Cozakas was arrested for possession of a firearm and ammunition while in possession of a controlled substance. He was booked at the county jail.
  • On 11/13/2015 at 10:17 am, an officer contacted 38 year old Matthew Sims who was walking in the 1300 block of W.13th St. A records check revealed Sims had an outstanding arrest warrant for assault with a firearm. He was arrested without incident and later booked at the county jail.
  • On 11/13/2015 at 1:56 pm, officers responded to the JC Penney store at 4951 Slatten Ranch Road regarding an uncooperative shoplifter. The subsequent investigation revealed 26 year old Justin Fulcher had stolen multiple items. He was contacted by security as he exited the store and set off a sensor alarm. Fulcher was uncooperative with security and began to resist during the detention. A struggle ensued and he was arrested by security. Fulcher was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. He is on felony probation for theft and was booked at the county jail for violation of probation, theft and possession of a controlled substance.
