Here is a look at the list of events in East Contra Costa for Nov. 4-5.

8:00 am: Brentwood Farmers Market
The 2017 season will run every Saturday through November 18  located at First Street between Oak and Chestnut.


9:00 am: Friends of Oakley Christmas Basket Program Registration
Oakley families in need of assistance with a holiday meal and toy, can register to receive fresh non0perishable food, and a wrapped toy for each child through age 17 in the family.

  • Nov. 4 – 9:00 am to noon (Oakley Recreation Building, 1250 O’Hara Avenue)
  • Nov. 7 – 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm (Oakley Recreation Building, 1250 O’Hara Avenue)
  • Nov. 9 – 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm (Oakley Recreation Building, 1250 O’Hara Avenue)

Families must bring either a water or power bill with the family name as proof of Oakley residence to register as well as a name and address matching State of California driver’s license or identification card. Friends of Oakley will consider special circumstances. One family meal will be provided per residence.

If your registration is determined to be a duplicate with us or another service provider or invalid for any reason your registration will be voided. The Oakley Christmas Basket distribution will take place on the afternoon of Sunday, December 16th at O’Hara Park School. Questions call 925-625-7945


9:00 am: Freedom High School Holiday Boutique
The 5th Annual Holiday Boutique will occur at Freedom High School from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm in the multi-purpose room with multiple vendors and entertainment provided. For more information, visit: https://ptsaoffreedomhighschool.com/holiday-boutique


10:00 am: Dallas Ranch PTSA Holiday Boutique  
Join the Dallas ranch PTSA as they host their holiday boutique from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at 1401 Mt. Hamilton Dr in Antioch. Created by the Dallas Ranch Middle School PTSA


10:00 am: Tall Ships Visit Antioch Marinaarina Oct. 31 to Nov. 6

From October 31st to November 6th, the Lady Washington will dock in Antioch City Marina. Dockside visitors can expect to tour the vessel and talk with the crew, while sailing passengers will experience the crew in action and the ship under wind power.

The vessel’s public program schedule is as follows:

  • November 4 (Saturday) – Tours: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. ($5 donation)
    Adventure Sail: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. ($42-$49)
  • November 5 (Sunday) – Tours: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. ($5 donation)
    Adventure Sail: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. ($42-$49)

10:00 am: Ink’d for Paws, a Tattoo Fundraiser by Studio 71

Who needs Ink?  Our good friends over at Studio 71 Tattoo are doing another Tattoo Fundraiser for Furry Friends Food Relief Program.

Flash sheet will be available as the event gets closer, a WIDE variety sure to please everyone!! It is first come first serve and it’s recomended to get there early and put your name on the list.

We have over 20 vendors and Let’s Taco ‘Bout It and Sip And Scoop California Food trucks will be there.

Furry Friends Food Relief assists families in need with assistance with their pets. Whether it be FREE food, low cost vaccines, or FREE to low cost spay and neutering. 10:00 am:  K911 Cat Rescue and EBARR Animal Rescue Host Vendor Craft Sale
Local East County Non Profit Animal Rescues: K911 Cat Rescue and EBARR Animal Rescue have joined together to host a VENDOR/CRAFT FAIR and BAKE SALE on Saturday 11/4/17 from 10am to 4pm at the Antioch Legions Hall:  403 W 6th St in Antioch.

Over 30 vendors in attendance and lots of delicious baked goods to be sold.

Both K911 and EBARR help the local East County Community and Local Shelters by taking into their rescue abandoned and surrendered pets – providing them full medical, spay/neuter, vaccination and adopting them into loving homes!!

Fundraisers such as this – help keep our program going and allow us to continue to save lives.

5:00 pm: Antioch Police Host Texas Holdem Poker Tournament Fundraiser

Officers from the Antioch Police Department are hosting a Texas Holdem Poker Tournament on November 4 to help raise funds for Officer Meghan Miller who is battling cancer.

Detective Meghan Miller, who has been with Antioch Police for 17-years is currently undergoing chemotherapy as she is battling Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Stage 3B Cancer — for more on her story, click here.

The Nov 4 event is a $50 buy-in and will be held at the Antioch Community Center, the buy-in includes dinner. Attendees may also choose to purchase dinner for $20.

Currently, the event has about 60-tickets left to sell before they are full.

The payouts include:

  • 1stPlace – $500
  • 2ndPlace – $300
  • 3rdPlace – $100

5:00 pm: Contra Costa County 4-H Tri-Tip Dinner & Auction
The Contra Costa County 4-H Council will host its annual Fundraising Dinner & Silent Auction to be held at the Contra Costa County fairgrounds on Saturday, November 4, 2017.

  • Tickets: Adults $30
  • Children under 12 $15
  • (after October 15 Adults $40, children $25. At the door Adults $50, children $30)

5:30 pm: Brentwood Union School District Education Foundation Third Annual Downtown Hoedown

The Brentwood Union School District Education Foundation invites you to join them for their Third Annual Downtown Hoedown on November 4 from 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm at Brentwood Community Center at 35 Oak St. with live music.

The event is $60/person or $550 for a reserved table for 10 people. The event includes BBQ dinner by Brentwood Fine meats.  Tickets can be purchased at www.brentwood.k12.ca.us or (925) 513-6499.

The Brentwood Union School District Education Foundation is a non-profit public benefit corporation dedicated to enhancing the educational opportunities for the students of the Brentwood Union School District.


6:00 pm: Leo Fontana Lifetime Achievement Foundation Hosts November 4 Trivia Night

The Leo Fontana Lifetime Achievement Foundation will once again be hosting a Trivia Night on November 4 and just a few tables and sponsorship remain open.

The event is limited and will be held at the Lone Tree Golf and Event Center. It begins at 5:00 pm for a social hour with a 6:00 pm Dinner followed by 2-hours of Trivia—for a table of 8, $500.

The Foundation was created to identify and sponsor programs where the youth in the Antioch community can participate that provides positive, constructive activities and support.

To date, the foundation has sponsored numerous youth bowling leagues, roller‐skating programs, open basketball program at the community center, a fun family picnic and games and Contra Loma Estates Park, resurrected the intermural sports program in the Antioch Middle schools, and an after school First Tee golf program.

7:00 pm & 9:30 pm: Arsenio Hall: Fundraiser for Pittsburg Arts & Community Foundation

Arsenio Hall is an American comedian, actor, and talk show host for The Arsenio Hall Show. Arsenio was the original voice of Winston Zeddemore in the cartoon The Real Ghostbusters from 1986–1987. In 1988, he co-starred in the comedy film Coming to America with Eddie Murphy.

In 1998, Arsenio joined the cast of the CBS dramedy “Martial Law,” playing “Terrell Parker,” a streetwise L.A.P.D. detective, for two years. He followed this up with a two season stint as Host of the new “Star Search” (CBS). And then, taking on his most challenging task to date, he returned to stand-up comedy and toured for the first time in over a decade.
