The Brentwood Farmers’ Market on is open on Saturday from 8am to 12pm, Oak St. and First St.  New this year – they have expanded around the corner onto Oak St.

The season will run from March 7, 2015 to November 21, 2015.

You are invited you to join us for this unique and fun 2 day event that combines the best of arts, crafts, and food in Contra Costa County between 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday and on Sunday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The cost is $3 per person, kids under 12 are free.

Get a jump start on your holiday shopping, enjoy a delicious meal from a local food truck, or just spend the day supporting local crafters and businesses!

You are invited to join the Friends of Oakley at their 1st Annual Classic Car show at Providence Bar & Eatery between 10:00 am to 3:00 pm with proceeds benefiting the Friends of Oakley.

The event is free and will have food, vendors, and music. Car registration is $25 at the door and accepting donations of unwrapped gifts and non-perishable food items.

Event is located in the Railey’s Shopping Center at 2085 Main St. in Oakley.

Now in its 3rd year – the always entertaining VETJAM is new this year with Doc Kraft and Company. Doc Kraft is a US Army veteran of special operations – possibly trained to kill audiences with 6-strings and an accordion. During his 33-year Army career, he has been involved in conflicts around the world, and used his medical expertise in not only the military but also in private practice in the North Bay. His band – Doc Kraft and Company – has been a hit for years with the dancing crowds in Marin, Napa, and Sonoma.

VETJAM proudly brings his special brand of entertainment to the Pittsburg California Theatre for one show on Nov 14th at 5pm. Opening for Doc is Billy Schaub – a hit at VETJAM 2013 and always a crowd pleaser with his smoky, Neil Diamendesque voice and acoustic guitar sound.

The event begins at 5:00 pm and tickets are $10.

November 14: The Liberty High Jazz Ensemble Supports Eagle Scout Project
Liberty-JazzThis night of Jazz is in support of Hayden Romiti’s Eagle Scout Project where he made a self-serve coffee station for Brentwood Neighborhood Church’s courtyard which is called “The Gathering Place”. This is a place that people can go and unwind, talk and drink free coffee anytime the church is open.

Hook-line-2November 15: Hook Line & Sinker Bass Tournament Series

The Hook, Line & Sinker bass tournament circuit is a low cost circuit for the amateur angler. The entry fee of $70 per team includes cash awards for the top 7 teams, plaques for the top 5 teams in each tournament and a hot dog BBQ after each tournament.

At each tournament we also have a young angler raffle for our participants age 16 and under. A portion of the entry fee is also used to host the Tournament of Champions and tri-trip BBQ for the anglers at the end of each year. This is a great place to start if you want to fish professional tournaments or if you just want to have fun!

ARD-ECTNov. 15: Mt. Diablo Recycling Hosts Free E-waste & Compost Giveaway Event

Mt. Diablo Recycling and Contra Costa Waste Service Honors America Recycles Day with Free e-Waste Drop-Off and Compost Giveaway November 15, 2015!

Old computers, printers, televisions, cell phones and other electronic equipment don’t have to take up space in your home—they can be recycled for free on November 15 at Mt. Diablo Recycling, part of waste management company Garaventa Enterprises.

Mt. Diablo Recycling (MDR) and Contra Costa Waste Services’ free e-Waste event will take place on Sunday, November 15 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the MDR facility located at 1300 Loveridge Road in Pittsburg, Calif. Anyone who drops off their e-Waste items will also receive up to 2 bags of compost for free.

Staff will be on hand to assist people with bulky recycling items; participants can even choose to stay in their cars during their drop-off. This free e-Waste event is being sponsored by Mt. Diablo Recycling and Contra Costa Waste Services in conjunction with America Recycles Day, an annual celebration of all things recycling taking place across the country November 15.

Contra Costa Waste Services operates the Recycling Center & Transfer Station (RCTS), one of the largest, state-of-the-art recycling centers in Northern California in conjunction with Mt. Diablo Recycling. RCTS dedicates most of its facility to recycling items including tires, metals, mattresses, propane tanks and appliances. It is part of the East Bay area’s oldest locally-owned waste management company, Garaventa Enterprises. Garaventa Enterprises offers state of the art waste management facilities and superior services and currently serves the areas of Concord, Pittsburg, Brentwood, Discovery Bay, Oakley and Rio Vista.

Delta Tactical Training Group announced a series of upcoming beginner handgun training courses starting this Saturday and will run through January. This class is designed to help civilians become more familiar with firearms. Classes are $120 + $10 range fee.

November 26: Brentwood Turkey TrotIMG_5959

On November 26, you are invited to join the 2nd Annual Turkey Trot for Schools. This 5K/10K event benefits the Brentwood Union School District and Liberty Union High School District athletic programs.

Last year, more than 600 people participated in the event which is aimed at promoting health, athletics, and education.

The race will begin at the Streets of Brentwood (2565 Sand Creek Road, Brentwood)

December 3: Pittsburg Tree Lighting
Come and celebrate the beginning of the holiday season with a Tree Lighting. The City of Pittsburg Parks & Recreation Department invites you to attend the Lighting Ceremony of the 2015 Holiday Tree on Thursday, Dec. 3rd at 5:30 pm.

The fully decorated City tree is located at 4th Street at Railroad Avenue in Old Town Pittsburg. Show your holiday spirit and start a family tradition by attending the annual lighting of the City’s tree.

You will be able to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate courtesy of Steeltown Coffee while listening to holiday music performed by our own Pittsburg Community Band. Also, members of the Black Diamond Ballet Company will be on hand to give a “sneak preview” of their up-coming performance of the Nutcracker Ballet.


December 5: DASH Christmas Boutique

December 5: Oakley Christmas Tree Lighting
JoiOakley Tree Lighting 2013n the City of Oakley at the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Saturday, December 5th, starting at 4:00 p.m. at Civic Center Plaza (3231 Main Street).

There will be non‐profit booths with games and activities, choir performances, free refreshments and more. Santa Claus will be on hand to visit and pose for photos. Be sure to bring your camera to capture the moment.

The 30ʹ Christmas tree in front of City Hall will be illuminated at approximately 6:00 p.m

 


Holliday LightsDecember 6: Tree of Lights 2015
Hospice East Bay invites the public to participate in the 29th Annual Tree of Lights ceremonies that are held in Contra Costa County throughout November and December.

The ceremonies provide a way for community members to honor the lives of their friends and loved ones. Everyone is invited to participate in the events which include music, poetry, remembrances by family members and hospice staff, and the special moment when the trees light up.

By dedicating a Memorial Light for a minimum gift of $25, you can honor someone you love while directly supporting end-of-life patient care. Memorial donors of $100 and higher will have the option to have their names listed in the lighting ceremony program of their choice. Event sponsorships start at $250.

Funds raised allow Hospice East Bay to provide essential programs and services such as the Vigil Program which ensures no one has to die alone, the Bridge Program for grieving children and adolescents and Bruns House, our inpatient hospice facility in Alamo.

December 12: Oakley Breakfast with Santa
Don’t miss your chance to see Santa on Saturday, December 12th at 10:00 a.m. in the City Council Chambers (3231 Main St). Santa will be taking time out of his busy schedule to join us for breakfast and visit with children. The continental breakfast will include pastries, fruit, juice, milk, and coffee.

Children only, can also expect to receive a small gift from Santa. Parents may bring cameras to capture the special moment. Pre‐registration is required and space is limited.

December 12:  Wreaths Across America 2015
For the first time the Union Cemetery in Brentwood will be participating in Wreaths Across America Wreath Laying Ceremony on Saturday, December 12 at 9AM.

This ceremony is coordinated by Anne Loucks Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution with support of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 10789 and the Union Cemetery.  The event is open to the public.  We hope to be able to place wreaths on all 300 veterans’ graves.  Wreaths are ordered from Wreaths Across America located in Maine and are delivered the day before the ceremony.  We are reaching out to the community to purchase a wreath(s) to donate.

NOTE – Wreaths MUST BE PURCHASED BY NOV 30

December 12: Pittsburg Holiday Parade
Santa will arrive in Pittsburg on Saturday, Dec. 12th during the City’s annual Holiday Parade. The Parade which will step off at 11:00 am will proceed down Railroad Avenue from 8th St. to 4th St. with the Pittsburg High School Marching Show Band escorting Santa down Railroad Avenue.

If you or your group would like to participate in this year’s parade, the deadline to sign up is Nov. 27th. After the parade, from noon to 4pm in the Plaza, Peppermint Playland will be open for kids of all ages to enjoy crafts, Jumpy Houses, a Magic Show, a Holiday Boutique and visits with Santa.
