Nobuko “Nobu” Matsuyama Waren
June 8, 1933 – May 13, 2014
Resident of Antioch

Nobu passed peacefully at her home after a short, yet courageous battle with cancer on the evening of May 13, 2014.

She was born on June 8, 1933 in Amami Oshima, Japan, to parents Arishige and Haru Matsuyama. She was one of seven children. She came to the United States in 1960, resided in San Francisco for a short time and relocated to her final home, Antioch, in 1965.

She will forever be loved and cherished by her devoted husband of 56 years, Glenn W. Waren, as well as her four children; David, Harumi (Tim), Sonomi (Bob) and Shigemi (Kevin). Her grandchildren; Melissa, David (Amy), Akemi, Danielle, Wesley, Kiyomi, Mika and Brody, and great-grandchildren; Marissa, Malea and Anthony, will always hold her close to their hearts. She will always be loved and never forgotten by numerous family members still residing in Japan. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 50 years, she also leaves behind her spiritual brothers and sisters.

In keeping with her wishes, no services were held, but thoughts of her will remain in the hearts of many each and every day.

The family also wishes to thank her Hospice nurse, Laura, and others from Kaiser Hospice of Martinez for their loving care and support and ask that donations be made to them in memory of Nobuko Waren in lieu of flowers.
