National Weather Service Issues Excessive Warning Through Monday

The National Weather Service has issued a heat a series of heat related warnings over the next several days.

The warnings are as follows:

  • Heat Advisory from 11:00 am Thursday through 9:00 pm.
  • Excessive heat warning from 11:00 am Friday to 9:00 pm Monday.

Daytime temperatures will range from 95 degrees to 105 degrees in many inland valley’s while temperatures could reach as high as 115 degrees in far interior and higher level elevations.

Overnight, lows will be in the 60’s and 70’s.

The heat impact will increase the potential risk for heat related illness, especially for sensitive groups, elderly, children, sick people as well as pets and livestock. This heat will be dangerous to anyone without proper hydration or adequate cooling.

Those who have outdoor activities planned are encouraged to plan accordingly as to try to schedule holiday weekend activities in the morning or evening when temperatures will be cooler, and with less exposure to direct sunlight.

An excessive heat watch means that a prolonged period of hot temperatures is expected. Hot temperatures will create a dangerous situation which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned room, and stay out of the sun. Be sure to also never leave children or pets in a vehicle while checking on relatives and neighbors.

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. Hot temperatures will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.
