Motorcyclist Injured in Crash Near Roddy Ranch

by ECT

In the last 24-hours, there have been two major motorcycle accidents which have caused emergency crews to respond. Today, Engine 52 responded to a motorcyclist down near Roddy Ranch on Deer Valley and Balfour around 12:31 which left a man transported via ambulance.  CHP and the Antioch Police Department shut down the roads as crews worked.

According to radio traffic, the motorist was reported laying down in the middle of the road. An off-duty paramedic stopped to assist while Engine 52 was in route. A medical helicopter was called, but later cancelled in favor of a ground transport.

Way too many car and motorcycle accidents in the last few weeks. PAY ATTENTION folks. Hope all these folks are ok.

You’re right. There are many new riders and they need to be really careful as car drivers are just not looking for motorcycles. Car drivers are in the habit of making “Hollywood Stops” and by the time they do see the motorcycle it’s to late.

Actually I’m a very experienced rider. Considered one of the safest by my peers, That lady in the mini-van left turned when I was 25 feet from her, into oncoming traffic and I was left with no choices – traffic behind her waiting meant I could not swerve to the left, and traffic on Balfor meant I couldn’t turn that way, and she was turning into that lane – not looking, so no turning there as well. She left me no information, even though she was hit on the back area of the passenger side of the van. Anyone who witnessed this, the intersection was busy, please call me (925)753-5758 or email [email protected]. I need information and your help, please respond.

Ed,
Glad to hear you are okay. I hate reading about these cars turning in front of motorcycles. Take a second glance, it takes less than a second. The weather is getting warmer and there are more bikes out. Please be EXTRA cautious……………..
