Morgan Hill: Four Suspects Caught Stealing Thousands of Dollars in Baby Formula

by ECT

On February 6, Morgan Hill Police say they arrested four individuals for burglary, conspiracy and grand theft.

Police say that they were dispatched to a Safeway store on Tennant Ave after learning the manager at the store stated three suspects targeted the baby formula aisle. In total, they hit two Safeway store and stole thousands of dollars in merchandise.

DeAnthony Dandy and Chyna Ashley

The suspects fled before police arrived but staff of the store gave excellent descriptions as the women ran to a waiting car. Officers were able to pick up the car as it attempted to flee onto the freeway.

Officers stopped the car and learned that the male driver, Danthony Dandy (21 Oakland) was on PRCS for firearm violations (Post Release Community Supervision – like parole but supervised by local probation departments).

Latoya Murray and Khala Jones

The three females, identified as, Chyna Ashley (19 Vacaville), Khala Jones (21 Antioch), and Latoya Murray (25 Antioch), were all in the car at the time of arrest.

Officers searched the vehicle and recovered thousands of dollars worth of merchandise including baby formula, medications, and toiletries from various stores.

The investigation revealed that both Safeway stores and at least one CVS had been hit by this crew. Video surveillance footage showed the same three females hitting multiple stores.

“This was a carefully coordinated attempt to steal from the people of Morgan Hill and thanks to the great communication between the community and PD, they did not succeed. Hopefully the message is getting around, Morgan Hill is not the place to come and commit crimes. We have a proactive police department and a vigilant community. That spells disaster for criminals,” said Morgan Hill Police Department via social media.

All 4 suspected thieves were booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on multiple felony charges.

As much as crime sucks, you have to admit, stealing from a faceless corporation is always better than from another human. If only white collar crime was treated like this in our country.
