Monday: PG&E Venting Natural Gas Line in Oakley

by ECT

On Monday, March 27, as part of the ongoing improvements to a natural gas system, PG&E plans to vent natural gas from sections of a pipe in Oakley.

The venting will occur sometime between the time of 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm with the actual venting lasting around 1-hour.

As gas is vented at 5900 Bridgehead Road, the smell of natural gas and the sound of it venting from the pipe may be noticeable in the area depending on wind direction.

The natural gas will quickly dissipate into the atmosphere and will not be harmful; however, safety is always our top priority, and PG&E encourages anyone who has concerns about natural gas odors in or around their home or business to call 1-800-743-5000, so PG&E can safely determine the specific cause. Service to customers should not be interrupted during this work.

This gas safety work is part of our everyday commitment to provide safe, reliable and affordable natural gas service to our customers.
