McNerney Announces “Holiday Cards For Our Troops” Program

by ECT

Stockton, Calif. – Today, Congressman Jerry McNerney (D-Stockton) announced the sixth annual “Holiday Cards for Our Troops” program.  Last year, the office collected more than 9,000 cards from the community with personal messages of gratitude to our men and women in uniform.  Congressman McNerney invites people to submit cards to either of his offices through Dec. 5, 2012 to be distributed to troops at home and overseas.  People are also encouraged to attend to the American Red Cross event on Sat., Dec. 1, 2012 at the Weberstown Mall.

“The men and women who have served our country deserve our support every day, but especially during the holidays.  I encourage everyone to give a little something back to them by sending a personal card through my Holiday Cards for Our Troops program,” said Rep. McNerney.

The cards will be sent to troops stationed overseas in packages organized by East Bay Blue Star Moms, Pleasanton Military Families, Support our Troops of Lodi, American Red Cross, U.S. Department of Veterans’ Affairs, and Summerset Veterans Club.  Cards will also be sent to veterans at Bay Area VA Hospitals, Camp Parks, Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD.
