May 20: Oakley to Host Free Water Conservation Workshop

The great California drought is here. In response to our serious shortage, the City of Oakley in partnership with Diablo Water District, are asking residents to conserve water.

Now is the time for you to take action and practice water conservation. To help you do your best at saving water, the city and the water district are hosting a free workshop called Water Conservation; Every Drop Counts.

This workshop is full of useful water conservation tips and facts, including the Top 10 Actions you can take to maximize water savings.

The workshop focuses on indoor and outdoor water conservation actions and practices that we can all easily do for free or low cost. The class will also provide an overview of greywater systems and rain barrel systems.

Workshop Spotlights:

  • Indoor Water Conservation (Focusing on all fixtures & appliances)
  • Landscaping & irrigation (overview of drip-systems, timers, practices
  • Greywater Systems (overview of regulations & installation)
  • Rain Barrel Systems (overview of different types & designs)

The workshop will be instructed by Todd Sutton, aka the “Waste Sleuth,” principal consultant of WasteSleuth.com and a sustainable expert with more than 23 years in the recycling and conservation field.
